Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral palsy (CP) is a life-long movement disorder that can affect muscle tone, motor skills, posture, and balance. People with CP may also exhibit learning, visual, hearing, and speech impairments. It is usually caused by damage to the developing brain either before or shortly after birth.
Interventions
Therapy Success uses a variety of proven therapies to assist people with cerebral palsy and acquired brain injury. The types of therapy implemented are individually tailored depending on the person's treatment goals and age.
MNRI® The powerful MNRI® Method isolates problematic primary motor reflexes and addresses their underlying neurosensorimotor mechanisms. It activates nervous system pathways to positively integrate these primary motor reflexes. Such action works to improve fine and gross motor skills, as well as communication development (speech, language, and writing). As the only MNRI Certified Core Specialist in the Australia who has completed training in 11 MNRI® protocols, Colleen-Maree Bates offers unique expertise in this powerful form of intervention.
Tomatis® The Tomatis® Method applies auditory sensory stimulation to address psychomotor difficulties including the ones experienced in the course of CP. The vestibule in the ear plays an important role in motor function. By acting directly on the vestibule, the Tomatis® Method works to help the regulation of muscle tone and posture, balance, coordination, and spatial navigation. As the first WA licensed provider of the Tomatis® Method, Colleen-Maree Bates possesses extensive experience in applying this powerful technique.
