Dyscalculia, Dyslexia

Dyscalculia is brain-based condition in which people have difficulty comprehending arithmetic such as numbers and mathematical concepts. Dyslexia is another learning disorder involving difficulty in processing the sounds in words and affects the development of reading and spelling. Many people with dyscalculia or dyslexia also display attentional difficulties. Both conditions can have a significant impact on schooling and workplace performance regardless of a child or adult's intelligence level. The powerful strategies Colleen-Marie employs are designed to address the mechanisms underlying dyscalculia and dyslexia to enact positive change.

Interventions

We believe that no two people are the same. Programs are completely tailored to the individual needs and goals of each person.

MNRI®

The powerful MNRI® Method is used to treat learning difficulties through addressing the fact that language and cognition all stem from motor development. The program helps the brainstem re-pattern this underlying sensory-motor-cognition system for better learning, attention, and self-regulation. As the only Level 3 Masgutova specialist in Australia who has completed training in 7 MNRI® protocols, Colleen-Maree Bates offers unique expertise in this powerful form of intervention.

Tomatis®

An underlying feature of dyslexia is the inabililty to phonologically analyse and process the sounds of language. It is due to the ear not posessing adequate decoding abilities to perceive and make sense of sounds that constitute a word or phrase. The ear also has difficulty transforming the sounds into corresponding mathematical concepts.

The Tomatis® Method uses the Electronic Ear to re-educate the neuro-sensory, communication and decoding processes of the ear that underlie each learning difficulty. It is employed in combination with individually tailored exercises, parental counseling, and collaboration with schools. As the first WA licensed provider of the Tomatis® Method, Colleen-Maree Bates possesses extensive experience in the effective application of its techniques.
